What are ESG requirements?
Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) requirements shape how manufacturers operate responsibly and sustainably. As expectations grow in areas like emissions tracking and workplace safety, manufacturing companies need systems that go beyond the ERP.
Ensuring compliance means handling a range of initiatives — from energy efficiency and safety programs to supplier governance and compliance audits. MeisterTask gives manufacturing teams one transparent space to run these cross-functional efforts.
Why use the ESG management template?
The ESG management template gives you a centralized space to plan, execute and document your ESG strategy. Whether you're preparing for an audit, rolling out safety programs or aligning suppliers with new regulations, you can organize and track every step.
Use this template to:
Centralize ESG efforts not covered by your ERP
Align teams on audits, metrics and ongoing initiatives
Maintain a verifiable source of truth for compliance
The board is organized by task status, from “Backlog” to “Done”. Task owners will move tasks across the board until work is complete, ticking off the checklist items or “to-dos” as they go. This gives you an easy overview of project progress at a glance.
Each task includes a task assignee and due date to ensure accountability. Attachments help you keep all relevant information, such as strategic or legal documents, accessible from the task. You can also add tags to filter tasks based on your factory or production goals — for example, "Waste reduction," "Worker welfare," or "Third-party audits”.
How to use the ESG management template
1. Add your key tasks and initiatives
Add your ESG tasks by clicking the + in any section of your project board. Add a detailed task description so that the assignee understands the task scope. Next, assign clear owners, set due dates, and break the task into smaller steps with checklist items.
2. Use Notes in MeisterTask to document progress
Record your policies, certifications or training logs directly in Notes. This ensures traceability and audit readiness. Link key documentation from the relevant tasks to keep information centralized and easily accessible from your project board.
3. Visualize your project timeline
Use the Gantt-style timeline to plan longer-term ESG milestones and ensure nothing gets missed during peak production. To schedule a task start and end date, click the timeline icon in the sidebar of the task dialog. You can then view your project as a Gantt chart by selecting “Timeline” from the navigation dropdown. Visualizing your project as a timeline will help you quickly identify any blockers, overlaps or dependencies in your workflow.
4. Invite stakeholders and collaborators
Click the “Share” button at the top of your board to invite your team and other stakeholders. You can limit access for certain project members to view or comment only. To do this, find the project member in the sharing settings, click the dropdown next to their name and assign a role.
Collaborating with external stakeholders such as compliance leads or auditors? Assign them viewer access to your MeisterTask projects in your account settings. This way, they get read-only access to projects, tasks and notes — and you maintain full transparency while staying in control.
5. Monitor, report and optimize
Ensure everyone stays aligned throughout your ESG management project. Encourage task owners to share detailed updates in the comments, using the @ function to tag and notify key stakeholders.
Reports, accessible via the collapsible sidebar, will also help you stay on top of project progress. For example, you can generate quick reports into how team members are performing and if tasks are being completed on time. Use these insights to identify issues and optimize your workflow throughout the project lifecycle.
